Suit over Toby Keith's rent dropped
The lawsuit against Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill over
$121,000 in unpaid rent has been dismissed, developers of The Banks have
confirmed.
The developers, the Dawson Co. and Carter, sued the bar in February, saying it had failed to pay three months’ rent.
Toby Keith’s replied via Facebook that it was withholding rent because developers violated the lease by allowing another live country music venue to open at The Banks.
“We’re pleased that we could settle this before the suit moved any further,” said Scott Stringer, executive vice president at Carter.
Stringer didn’t release details of the settlement, and attorneys for the bar couldn’t be reached Tuesday.
Toby Keith’s was the first tenant announced at the new riverfront development between Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park. The commercial space in the first phase is now 94 percent leased.
The bar, one of a dozen Toby Keith’s owned by Arizona businessman Frank Capri, remained open throughout the dispute.
